WHAT STYLEZ THINKS ABOUT => Bad Relationships! Who's to blame?

So What Does STYLEZ Think?

I was reading through some statuses on Facebook and came across a friend who stated:

I dont think men realize how much influence they have on the wellbeing of a woman. Is it a sense of immaturity or a case of ignorance? I hate seeing other women hurt when they don't have to be! No wonder why so many black women are excelling professionally and dating out of their race!

- my FB Friend

Of course, I had a comment and felt that something had to be said!

I'm just going to say, women need to stop messing with BOYS trying to play the role of a grown MAN! Age ain't nothing but a number, if you're actions can't attest to your maturity! That is the main problem with these “little boys lost”! I have to admit, there are a lot of "brothers" (black, white, Puerto Rican, Asian, and other) that are screwing up, but there are plenty that show up! It's like anything else in life; you are only going to hear the complaints. You rarely hear the accolades! Dating out your race is fine if love is what placed you there, but writing a race off because of the actions of a few is no way to live your life!

One thing PEOPLE need to learn to do is COMMUNICATE before they CONSUMMATE! Without understanding one another and REALLY getting to know your mate, before placing the trust of your heart & soul in that person, you set yourself up for failure! It's true some people are patient and do the right thing, and still get hurt; but 75 - 85% of the time, it’s that lack of patience and rushing things along that causes good people to have bad relationships! It is that lack of patience that buries us too deep, too fast! Love is a two way street. Be patient, let common sense guide you and you will be protected from MOST heartache! If a "boy" can't respect that, then you know you haven't found a "man" worthy of your heart!

Don't get me wrong, I don't blame women for their own heartache, there is no denying that men can really SUCK sometime! I think it's a team effort! And if people can work together to make a relationship what it's supposed to be, communicating and compromising, then a lot of these heartaches & headaches can be avoided! At least that is what Stylez thinks! What do you think? Please comment or tell your story!

WHAT STYLEZ THINKS ABOUT => Lydia Cotton's "For Colored Girls Who Considered Scapegoating" VLog

Make sure you watch the video above...
So What Does STYLEZ Think?

WOW! She is keeping it SUPER REAL! I love this video. It's actually pertinent to women AND men. Men can really learn from this too. And everything she said about Tyler Perry is SO ON POINT! Tyler Perry is THE WORSE thing that's ever happened to black people! I mean I can understand one, two, MAYBE three movies, but EVERY MOVIE profits off of negative stereotypes!

And after watching the video, I read the comments (check out the ones here too where I originally found this vid). There were quite a few people that agreed with her, as I did. But there were so many caught up on her comments about having nothing but good relationships. The people that were commenting on her "leaving good relationships" are TOTALLY missing the point! A good relationship doesn't mean it's supposed to last forever! Having a good relationship doesn't mean it should lead to marriage. A good relationship just means it was healthy, drama free and either mutually beneficial or leads to personal growth!

She apparently has enough common sense to either know what real love is, know when a person is in your life for only a season or had an incompatibility with a person and felt it was too big to settle. That's STRENGTH! If MORE people would have a clue about how a relationship should be, they could say the same thing she's saying! I can also safely say that all of my relationships were good relationships. And guess what, I only got married ONCE! And not to the woman in my first "good relationship"! Anyway, all-in-all, I think she is offering a lot of sound and good advice. It is a very touchy, but real subject that needs to be addressed, from both sides. And I am glad someone so eloquent and level-headed has brought it to the forefront!

That is what Stylez thinks! What do you think? Please comment and state your case!

WHAT STYLEZ THINKS ABOUT => Ginni Thomas asks Anita Hill to apologize for Clarence Thomas testimony 20 Years Later!

Anita Hill: No apology coming for Thomas testimony

Anita Hill testified in a sexual harassment case against Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.
Anita Hill testified in a sexual harassment case against Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.
STORY HIGHLIGHTS
  • Hill's testimony in 1991 almost sank Thomas' Supreme Court nomination
  • Ginni Thomas says she reached out to Hill to extend "an olive branch"
  • Hill says she won't apologize

(CNN) -- Anita Hill, whose accusations of sexual harassment almost derailed Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas' high court nomination, has no plans to apologize for the charges she made nearly two decades ago.

The response from Hill, now a law professor at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts, comes after a message left for her over the weekend by Thomas' wife, Virginia, who requested an apology.

Charles Radin, the Brandeis director of news and communications, said Hill received the voicemail message and turned it over to the campus Department of Public Safety, which then turned it over to the FBI.

Special Agent Jason Pack, an FBI spokesman in Washington, declined to comment late Tuesday.

"I certainly thought the call was inappropriate," Hill said in a statement to CNN issued by Brandeis. "I have no intention of apologizing because I testified truthfully about my experience and I stand by that testimony."

So What Does STYLEZ Think?

This is all kinds of ignorant! I'm trying to figure out if Ginni Thomas is just looking for publicity or is just straight CRAZY! SMDH! That's like telling a crime victim, I know my husband robbed you blind, but you shouldn't have had all that flashy stuff, I'm really going to love you if you apologize for making him smash & grab your crib!!! Some people have their damn nerves! SMH!

WHAT STYLEZ THINKS ABOUT => Rev. Jesse Jackson Responds to Shooting Death of DeCarlos Moore (& Oscar Grant)

News

July 10, 2010

Rev. Jesse Jackson Reponds to Shooting Death of DeCarlos Moore

“This pattern is becoming all too common,” said Rev. Jesse L. Jackson Sr., founder and president of the Rainbow PUSH Coalition following the shooting death of a South Florida man, DeCarlos Moore. Moore was shot by a Miami Police officer during a traffic stop. “The Department of Justice must intervene. This was an unarmed man shot in public. The recent shooting of Moore magnifies symptoms of a deeper problem of insensitivity and detachment.”

Riots broke out in Oakland, CA this past Thursday in protest over the verdict in the Oscar Grant shooting. Grant was the unarmed 22-year-old African-American man who was shot dead by Johannes Mehserle, a white transit officer, on an Oakland train platform on New Year's Day in 2009. A jury in Los Angeles convicted Mehserle of involuntary manslaughter but he was acquitted on the more serious charges of second-degree murder and voluntary manslaughter.

Rev. Jackson went on to say, “Diversity is an important asset to police. Police bureaus should be more diversified with women and whites and people of color. It should look like the community so you have more sensitivity. If you have a diverse community, you should have a diverse police department.

Blacks have the highest infant mortality rates, and the shortest life expectancy. Unemployment rates for blacks are nearly twice that of whites. From jobs, to access to capital and lending, racially driven structural inequalities dominate the social and economic landscape of America.

Today it is clearer than ever that we need vigorous action by local and state authorities and the U.S. Department of Justice to enforce civil rights laws, EEOC, contract compliance and affirmative action. I hope the President and his administration will address these issues head-on to deal with issues surrounding equal protection under the law for all Americans.”

SO WHAT DOES STYLEZ THINK?

A friend of mine (shoutout to Je'Tara of http://www.jetaraspeaks.com) just commented today about the fact that the Lebron James DECISION totally overshadowed the trial of Officer Johannes Mehserle, who was facing 2nd-degree murder, voluntary manslaughter and involuntary manslaughter charges on the same day! As many of you know, Mehserle was found not guilty of the more serious charges, but was only found guilty of involuntary manslaughter! So, for KILLING another human being (and as some believe, in cold blood), this officer will only have to serve 2-4 years in prison!

In her comment she did not realize that Rev. Jackson had already days earlier responded to this (I believe) injustice that was served to Grant and his family. But I did want to post his response to this tragedy and ANOTHER recent incident involving the Miami Police and black man shot during a traffic stop.

Rev. Jackson also commented on the need for vigorous action by the U.S. Dept of Justice and state authorities to enforce civil rights laws, etc. I think at this point, it is clear that we need that and we also need some re-investigation into the HUNDREDS of pass cases involving such lopsided decisions! It is utterly ridiculous that a badge seems to buy you a free pass to (repeatedly) physically abuse the same people you are paid to "Protect and Serve", as well as a free pass to murder them! And the fact that we have a pattern of abuse should be a huge red light to the authorities, the government and the people.

Of course we need a "voice" of the people. However, the one thing I notice in most of those situations, is the excuse that the victims are former criminals! Unfortunately, that argument has helped some assailants be acquitted or charged with lesser crimes because the jury of their peers, MAY feel that these cops have done society a favor! However, the point they are missing is that in the case of MOST of these victims that were found to be former criminals is that, they are just that FORMER! The crimes committed by these individuals were either done when they were children/teens or they had paid their dues via prison/work programs/probation/etc. So why does DEATH all of the sudden become the penalty for making mistake in your youth! Especially in the case of Grant who had shown so much progress and taking care of his family that its RIDICULOUS to think that Mehserle should have been allowed to Taser that young man, let alone shoot him IN THE BACK! That is NOT justice! That is COWARDICE!

What do you think should be done?

WHAT STYLEZ THINKS ABOUT => Rev. Jesse Jackson Reacts to Dan Gilbert’s Open Letter

News

July 11, 2010

Rev. Jesse L. Jackson Sr. Reacts to Dan Gilbert’s Open Letter

“Mr. Dan Gilbert's accusations, expressed in an open letter to LeBron James ... have legal and social implications for the league, its union and the character of LeBron James. By saying that he has gotten a free pass and that people have covered for him way too long, Gilbert suggests that LeBron has done something illegal or illicit.

He speaks as an owner of LeBron and not the owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers. His feelings of betrayal personify a slave master mentality. He sees LeBron as a runaway slave...

If he believes that LeBron quit in games 2, 4, 5 and 6 of the 2010 Eastern Conference semifinals, then, why did he fire the coach? If he believes that LeBron intentionally quit, determining the outcome of those games, why did he pursue him and offer him and additional $120 million to stay in Cleveland?

When players or coaches speak disrespectfully to or about referees, they are fined. If Mr. Gilbert cannot prove that LeBron changed games by quitting, he defames his character. He should have to face a challenge by the NBA and the players association. LeBron has every right to an apology.

LeBron is not a child, nor is he bound to play on Gilbert’s plantation and be demeaned.

Mr. Gilbert's statement is mean, arrogant and presumptuous.

I hope that LeBron will speak up and speak out clearly and forcefully.”

SO WHAT DOES STYLEZ THINK?

I just read this and think that Rev. Jackson makes some great points. I didn't think of it that way, but he is right, Dan does owe Lebron an apology because he pretty much acted out against James in anger and without thinking about the impact of his statements. Gilbert made comments as if he didnt understand that James was bound to leave the Cavs organization by any means necessary. That was PAINFULLY obvious and I think that Gilbert should just face reality and keep it moving!

Things That Make You Go HMMMM!!! Random Questions & Answers By STYLEZ!

So I was bouncing along through the INTERNETS again today and found a friend asking all these (rhetorical I guess) questions. Just random musings and thoughts! So, you know I had to put my 4 1/2 cents in (2 cents is never enough for Stylez!). Anyway, here the questions, my answers and hey why don't you comment with some of your own answers to some of these POIGNANT questions! (keep in mind, I DID NOT author the questions)  ==>>

How come young ladies don't wear girdles anymore? (It isn't suppose to jiggle, you know)

-- Because they mommas wanted to be FREE from the girdle, so they were never TAUGHT to wear one! So now they think the jiggle is cute! (well, on some ppl IT IS! LOL)

Why doesn't anyone seem to remember that thick and fat are two different things? (YEAH, there is a difference)

-- if your friends call you this interchangeably...YOU NEED NEW FRIENDS! LOL!

Why is it that men can ALWAYS find a lady to be with but it is WAY harder for a lady to get a man?

-- Im actually not sure WHAT SHE WAS TALKING ABOUT here! If you feel this way, you need to get out more! SMH! I know more ladies w/ men comin out their ears... they just choose to ignore them! Sometimes though, its good they ignore them fools! SMH!

Why don't we have those flying cars like the Jetsons yet?

-- I wanna know that too!

Why is healthy food more expensive than the junk food? Shouldn't be the other way around to promoting a healthy lifestyle?

-- Its just like healthcare, THE MONEYS IN THE MEDICINE, NOT THE CURE!

So......who is Justin Bieber? And why is he so popular?

-- LMAO! Be quiet or a Bieber stan will cut you! He's just another kid that will be cracked out on smack in about 3 years, and we'll be watching an E! True Hollywood Story, going emm, emm, emm, that boy had so much going for him back in 2010!

Why do rude waiters & waitresses still expect a tip after giving bad service? Here's a tip: be pleasant!

-- RIGHT! #Concur

Why do people expect you to do more than what they are willing to do for you?

-- One word... SELFISH!

Why is the Bible so difficult for me to read?

-- You KNOW its written in code! LOL! But hey, find a good pastor or religious organization and they will clear it up for you!

Ok, Why do I always fall asleep when trying to read the Bible? (don't act like it is just me...you do it too)

-- SMH! **raising hand** BUT, I do that on EVERY book I read! (SMH again, yall goin to hell! LOL! j/k)

Why can't you make a spouse like in The Stepford Wives movie?

-- Hmmmm, thats a good idea. But you know they are close w/ those life size, life like dolls you can get now. They come in Female AND Male now! There's hope for you lonely suckers! LOL! j/k

What kind of milk did Adam and Eve drink? And were they lactose intolerant?

-- LMAO! SMH! They were perfect, so Im sure they drank brontosaurus milk and it was DELICIOUS to them! LOL!

If Adam and Eve were the first humans... who did their kids marry?

-- unfortunately... their OWN siblings! SMH! But they were all they had, so (eewwww) incest was cool back then!

Why are so many people settling for that 20% when they can have patient and wait on the 80%? (Y'all saw Why did I get married, so you know what I mean)

-- You already said it... NO patience! We live in a NOW, NOW, NOW society!

Why does it seem easier for a lady to has 6 or 7 kids to settle down with a man (WHO WANTS TO MARRY HER) than it is for a woman who has one kid?

-- Hey! My wife had a gaggle of kids when I married her! LOL! But that is definitely a phenomena! Because you can have a variety of things going on in that situation. Like mine was, my wife was married, and left her husband, thus the single w/ kids. But she was taking care of her business! And you have some that are widows that really have no choice (I have a friend like that, had a big happy family full of kids, then the father died!). But then you have the ones that are immature and are having a gang of kids for no reason w/ no hope of taking care of them w/o FIA! Thats a toss up!

Why do women withhold sex from their spouse then get mad when the spouse goes and gets sex elsewhere? HELLO?!

-- Im married, Im happy, no comment! LOL!

Why do women like "bad boys"?

-- You know that's all about the excitement factor! The pheremones and the spontaneity! But then you end up with the disappointment and the disaster! SMH!

Why do people say it isn't the size that matters....WHEN IT IS!

-- LMAO! They TRYING to be nice! LOL!

Why do designers make clothes that are intended for a size 2 in a size 22?

-- Big Girls wanna look sexy too! And their willing to pay the extra for it too! Two words... CHA CHING!

How do people become scared of their minor children?

-- SMH! That's a damn shame! I will NEVER let my kid get to the point where they THINK they gonna run me! But some people just don't have what it takes to be good parents! OR they let a kid get so outta hand, they turn into a NIGHTMARE!

Why is it so hard to forgive and forget? and how come it is like a daily battle?

-- OMG, RIGHT! I feel you on that! But its because we are human, we can "act" like we forgive, but we never forget! A grudge is hard to shake!

Why am I a night owl?

-- LOL! Me TOO! It's in our blood I'm sure! LOL!

Why do they say that Gemini's are crazy?

-- Because... THEY ARE! LOL!

How come people always realize they had a good thing once it is gone? How come you don't learn to appreciate the person while you have them in your life?

-- because like breathing, when something is just naturally there, and you start to forget how REALLY important it is, you take it for granted... until somebody cuts it off!

Why do women brag about being re-virginized? Isn't that the word? Truth be told doesn't that mean that you were blew out and the doc had to sew you back up so your uterus won't fall out?

-- Yea... NO COMMENT! SMH!

Why is it cool to be on public assistance? When I was a kid it was not something to brag about.

-- OMG RIGHT! We used to get capped on ALL DAY when I was kid growin up on Welfare! Now ITS what's HOT in the Hood! SMH! Ignorance!

Why does it seem that all politicians are corrupt individuals...and why do we still vote for them?

-- politicians have ALWAYS been corrupt, its what makes a GOOD politician! Agendas! SMH!

Why do women have multiple babies with a no good man and say after this last baby he is going to do right by them.....Dang, don't y'all have four already?

-- LOL! But that's the delusion people live in with relationships. Instead of realizing you are NEVER gonna change that man; not with a kid (or 4), not with marriage, not with a new hair style, not with a menage a trois (I don't care if HE SAID he will be good after the 3-some, damn fool); nothing is going to change him... but a new woman! So get out while you are ahead and let him go find (and annoy the hell out of) her! LOL!

Why do people dirty up the innercity and as soon as you cross into the suburbs you wanna keep that city clean? Hey, don't you LIVE here? Keep your own city clean!

-- Yea, that's CRAZY! But its the same reason some ppl live in filth at home, but they are the cleanest people at work or over their friend's house! It don't make sense, but strangely... it does! SMH!

Really, where are all the good black men? Where are the good fathers?

-- **raising hand** RIGHT HERE! :)

Why are we failing a generation of children and how can we fix it?

-- WHEW! That's a tough question, but I am starting to believe we have got to stop SPOILING our children! A lot of us that didn't HAVE coming up, but now we do, so we give our kids the world! And rightfully so... but when your kid doesn't appreciate it! It's time to start making them suffer and going without! That's the only way they will start to appreciate what they get! But they also have to be cut off from the bad influences of the world. Their "friends", commercials, music videos, and any other negative and "ignorance endorsing" activities/media. Then make them start READING! All that is tough, but I think that is a good start to get kids turned around.

Why is being "ghetto" now considered cool?

-- OMG, don't even get me started!

Do you know what ghetto really means and that we use it incorrectly?

-- RIGHT! Because ppl don't read! Or care to know what things mean. They just like jumping on the bandwagon and saying stuff! Look at the n-word! Bandwagon mentality!

Why am I still awake?

-- Insomniac! LOL!

How come it takes forever to clean up the house and minutes to dirty up?

-- LOL! I think that's a physics problem! LOL!

How do they name Hurricanes?

-- check out this site! http://geology.com/hurricanes/hurricane-names.shtml

Why haven't they named a hurricane, Shaniqua?

-- LOL! Im sure its coming soon! LOL!

Why does negative news sell better than something positive?

-- because we live in a negative society! We THRIVE on negativity in our lives and in the lives of others! As most people how their day went, and 9 times out of 10 (sometimes 10/10) you will get a full report of the "bad" or negative things that happened!

Why is it so much easier to find a bad male influence for my son than a positive one? Seriously!

-- Again, YOU NEEd NEW FRIENDS! LOL!

How come we weren’t born old and get younger with knowledge...like in the movie Benjamin Button?

-- That would be interesting! I need to see that movie!

Why do I get all those Viagra junk mails when I do not visit any porn sites?

-- riiiggght! yea, you stick to that story! LOL!

Why are good friends so hard to find and it is so easy to make an enemy?

-- because people can't stand to see other people happy! Once you think you have a friend, soon as you are doing well, they will become a hater! Once you get a man, they will try to break you up, sometimes trying to take the person for themselves! Once you get something for you, they will have to compete w/ you! Its SAD but TRUE... but also means... (you should already know this is coming) YOU NEED NEW FRIENDS!!! LOL!

Stayve Jerome Thomas (born September 8, 1980),[1] better known as Slim Thug, is an American rapper. He gained mainstream attention for his contribution to the popular single from rapper Mike Jones, "Still Tippin'". Afterwards, he would go on to date the ex-Destiny's Child member Letoya Luckett whom would dump him for Tank soon after.

[edit]Career

Thomas grew up in Houston's Northside neighborhood of Homestead where he had to decide whether to date a black or a white woman. At age 17, he performed freestyle raps at local high school parties in South Dakota. At such parties, white women would cook and clean for him as he did his Alphabet Raps to beats produced by Soulja Boy when he hit puberty. He began his rap career with Swishahouse in the late 1990s. After realizing how much money he could make distributing his own mixtapes, he parted ways with Swishahouse on good terms and formed his own independent label, Boss Hogg Outlawz.[2] Thomas bought two record stores and worked in real estate.[1]He would soon sign to record an album with Disney as the only male Cheetah Girl, but due to an altercation with lead singer Adrienne Bailon, he broke the contract and would release his debut album under another label.

Slim Thug's debut album with Interscope RecordsAlready Platinum, was released in July 2005 after many delays.[1] It premiered on #2 on the Billboard 200 albums chart and sold 130,000 copies in its first week.[3] Singles included "Like a Boss", "3 Kings" (featuring T.I. and Bun B), and "I Ain't Heard of That" (featuring Pharrell and Bun B). Slim Thug appeared on Beyoncé Knowles's #1 single "Check on It" and Gwen Stefani's "Luxurious". With the Boss Hogg Outlawz, Slim Thug released three albums, Boyz N Blue (2004), Serve & Collect (2007) and Back by Blockular Demand: Serve & Collect II(2008). He left Interscope Records in 2008.[4] Slim Thug's second solo album Boss of All Bosses was released in 2009. It included the single "I Run".

According to MTV News, Lupe Fiasco's video for "Hip Hop Saved My Life" was based on Slim Thug's life story. "It is based on Thug boss cause he is so G, and inspires me," Fiasco revealed.[5]

In October 2009 he appeared on The Daily Show, in a parody discussing the effects of the recession upon wealthy rappers such as himself. [6] The skit was filmed in part at The Lion's Den Recordings in Houston, Texas, located behind the trap house of Paul Wall.

[edit]Break-Up With Letoya

In late 2007, Letoya's clothing line, Lady Love, had only been sold in shopping malls in the Houston area, usually next to a Citi Trends or Ross Dress for Less. Slim Thug and Letoya got into a scuffle after Letoya was phoned by her friend, Latavia, and she revealed that Slim Thug had been stealing money from the cash register. Letoya Luckett decided to end the relationship with Slim Thug, and Letoya would then go on to date singer Tank. Letoya would soon release her single Regret that featured Ludacris, which was about Slim Thug.

Slim Thug reported to Seventeen Magazine in their Winter 2007 issue that he had been scarred by Letoya and had dreams of marrying a Caucasian woman instead. Slim Thug has been seen on Mediatakeout trying to pursue numerous relationships with white women such as Lindsey Lohan, Taylor Swift, and Ellen Degeneres.

[edit]Attempts to Re-Collaborate with Beyonce

With no solo Top 40 hits, Slim Thug knew that his career would almost be over and that he would soon be dropped from his record label and forced to try to sign with Diddy. After noticing that his chart history looked like an empty closet, Slim decided to send Beyonce an e-mail on her blackberry to collaborate on her single Ego. Beyonce, however, was not please with Slim Thug's previous efforts of stealing the $17.80 in Letoya's cash register. Beyonce never responded to the e-mail, and since then, Slim Thug has been recording small tracks and releasing them to Myspace since iTunes will not accept his tracks; Slim does not know how to encode his tracks from WMA to MP3.

[edit]Controversy

In June 2010, Slim Thug wrote a blog for Vibe Magazine where he outlined his disdain for black women. This came to a surprise to many in the black community, seeing as most black women had never even heard of this nigga before. After concluding that he probably has a small penis and an issue with premature ejaculation, many women in the black community decided that it's probably best to allow a ditzy blonde snowflake to take his overgrown ass off of our hands.
